How to Play TakeTwo: the Card Game Where the Lowest Score Wins

🎮 by DIJEN TECH

TakeTwo is a fast shedding card game in the family of crazy eights: match the card on the pile by suit or by number and be the first to run out of cards. The twist is the scoring — you play several rounds, and the lowest total at the end wins.

Here is how a round works, what the special cards do, how the points are counted, and a few tips. You can play TakeTwo free on TumbleTuck, against the computer or with friends.

How a round works

Card games on TumbleTuck
  • Everyone is dealt a hand and one card starts the pile.
  • On your turn, play a card that matches the top card's suit or its number.
  • If you cannot play, take a card from the deck.
  • Say "last card" when you are down to one — forgetting it costs penalty cards.
  • The first player with no cards left wins the round.

The special cards

  • Two — the next player must take two more cards, unless they answer with another two.
  • Jack — you choose the next suit. The next player must play that suit, or another Jack.

Scoring

At the end of each round, everyone adds up the cards left in their hand: an Ace is 1 point, 2 to 10 count their number, a Jack is 0, a Queen 12 and a King 13. The round winner gets 5 points taken off. Before the game you choose how many rounds to play, and after the last round the lowest total wins.

Tips

  • Get rid of Queens and Kings early — they are the most expensive cards to be caught with.
  • Keep a Jack for when you are stuck: it lets you play on anything and pick the suit you hold most of.
  • Save a Two to answer a Two played at you.
  • Watch how many cards the others hold, and play your Twos when someone is close to winning.
